Why Audience Comprehension Matters
Consider someone designing a website's navigation menu. The designer might create a visually stunning menu with an artistic font and subtle colors. However, if users can't easily find where to click, or if they don't understand what each menu option does, the design has failed—no matter how beautiful it looks. Conversely, a simple, plainly-designed menu that every user immediately understands is successful by the standard that matters: audience comprehension.
